Manchester Notary Public Services

A notary is a specialist solicitor who is qualified to certify legal and official documents. Their job is to certify the authenticity of legal documents through the process of notarisation. Specifically, a Notary Public authenticates documents for use in foreign jurisdictions, though they can also certify documents for use in the UK as well; solicitors can certify documents for use in the UK, but only a notary can certify documents for use overseas.

Our Notary Public solutions are tailored to the unique needs of our clients. We work with individuals as well as with corporates and SMEs. Bespoke packages are available on request.

Some of the documents we commonly notarise include affidavits, educational documents, powers of attorney, statutory declarations, and wills. However, there are many types of documents that we can notarise, with the only ones we cannot being those issued by the General Registry Office (GRO), like birth, marriage and death certificates. However, GRO certificates can still be legalised.

Additionally, we offer translation services if your documents are going to be used in a country where English is not commonly used.

Finally, we have other services such as legalisation and our mobile notary service, both of which are useful, convenient services for many of our clients that uphold our aims to provide accessible and efficient services.

Legalisation & Apostille

Once your documents have been notarised, they may need to be legalised before they will be recognised in the country they are intended for. At Manchester Notary Public, we can manage the entire legalisation process on your behalf.

Most countries accept apostilles, which were introduced following the Hague Apostille Convention of 1961 to simplify the legalisation of documents for international use. Over time, more countries have become signatories to the convention, allowing them to accept apostilles as a valid form of legalisation.

In the UK, apostilles are issued by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Here at Manchester Notary Public, we can handle this process for you, giving you more time to focus on other important preparations for your move abroad.

For countries that do not accept apostilles, documents must go through embassy or consulate legalisation. This is a lengthier and more complex process, involving multiple stages of verification by the relevant foreign authorities. As with apostilles, we can manage the entire legalisation process for you, saving you the time and effort of navigating it yourself.

If you are unsure which legalisation you need, we recommend that you check with your solicitor or legal representative in the relevant foreign jurisdiction.
